The Society of Professional Journalists has been selected the San Diego Pro Chapter to receive a Circle of Excellence Award for activities promoting diversity among journalists. SPJ will present the award on Oct. 4 at the 2010 SPJ Convention & National Journalism Conference in Las Vegas.

The San Diego Pro Chapter was selected from among hundreds of chapters nationwide for the award.

The chapter was recognized  for sponsoring three diversity-related programs. These programs included one focused on gender issues with a “Women in Journalism” program, featuring well-known women journalists who looked back at the road women have traveled in the news profession.
