Syrian journalists in San Diego on a U.S. Department of State-sponsored program to study “reporting in risky areas and providing accurate coverage in conflicts” will join local journalists for a wide-ranging panel discussion and Q&A.
Panelists will include:
Zena Adi, journalist with Radio Rozana, a Paris-based Internet radio station launched in June 2013 as a joint initiative between Syrian journalists inside and outside the country;
Dr. Obadah Alkaddri, the first independent FM broadcaster in Damascus, who broadcasts news, political satire, and dialog-driven programming on Radio Watan;
Amy Isackson, a freelance journalist who covers California’s U.S.-Mexico border for KQED’s The California Report, NPR and The World;
John Gibbons, staff photographer for U-T San Diego.
Moderator will be Chuck Westerheide, Jr., assistant news director KNSD-TV.
