San Diego SPJ’s annual Report Card on the Media panel March 5

STOP THE PRESSES! San Diego SPJ’s annual Report Card on the Media panel discussion is Wednesday, March 5!

As always, this can’t miss panel features people who have made bold statements and even bolder headlines this past year, and allows them to roast or praise the reporters who covered them.

This year the panel includes Laura Fink, one of ex-San Diego mayor Bob Filner’s first accusers; Rachel Laing, spokeswoman for the Nathan Fletcher mayoral campaign; North County Transit District’s CEO Matthew Tucker; and Sara Britt, grandmother of the kidnapped Hannah Anderson, a case that captured headlines worldwide.

Please join us as they grade the media and maybe you on all of our coverage.

Fink will discuss what it was like to be at the center of the Filner saga. Laing will talk about the special election that followed Filner’s resignation in which Fletcher finished third. Tucker will talk about the reporting on his agency and the multiple retraction demands he’s made of local media outlets. And Britt will discuss the manhunt and international media craze involving her family.
