The chapter board is planning now for the 2009-10 year of events, so let us know your ideas. We’re bouncing around ideas for skills workshops (multimedia training and the like), a program on San Diego’s new trend in niche media, a program on using social media, a program on boosting your freelance career, a panel on women in journalism, and a student/pro mixer, plus programs focusing on ethics, Sunshine Week, and diversity. We’re also working on a mentor/mentee program and, possibly, a job board.
So, if you have ideas for cool programming you’d like the San Diego SPJ chapter to do, let us know. Swing by a board meeting – the next one is tomorrow, Tuesday, Sept. 1 at 6:30 p.m. in the 4th floor editorial board room at the San Diego Union-Tribune, 350 Camino de la Reina, in Mission Valley (enter through the employee entrance on the west side of the building) – or contact chapter president Joe Guerin at guerin_joe@yahoo.com.
