Journalist-turned-author Caitlin Rother will speak at the Jan. 24 meeting of the San Diego Writers/Editors Guild.

Rother is the author of five books, fiction and non-fiction, and is currently working on “The Makings of a Monster,” which tells the story behind John Gardner’s rape and murder of San Diego teenagers Chelsea King and Amber Dubois.

A Pulitzer Prize nominee, Rother worked for 19 years as an investigative reporter for daily newspapers, and has made dozens of TV and radio appearances as a crime expert. She speaks to professional groups, works as an editorial consultant/book doctor, and teaches narrative non-fiction, interviewing, feature writing and creative writing at UCSD Extension.
