The program, “9/11 Remembered: How Media and Law Enforcement Responded,” is set for Thursday, Sept. 8 and will feature reporters who covered 9/11 as well as local law enforcement who responded to the attacks.
Speakers will include San Diego Union-Tribune reporter Lisa Deaderick, who covered 9/11 at ground zero in New York while a journalism graduate student at Columbia University; Kelly Thornton, an investigative journalist at The Watchdog Institute, who broke stories about the San Diego connection to the Sept. 11 terrorists while reporting for the Union-Tribune; and San Diego County Sheriff Bill Gore, who was head of the local FBI at the time of the 9/11 attacks and who led investigations into the three hijackers who lived and took flying lessons in San Diego. KGTV 10News managing editor JW August will moderate the program.
