Join Studio SPJ on Friday, Jan. 4 at 11 a.m. Eastern/8 a.m. Pacific when the radio program’s guest will be documentary film maker Bernardo Ruiz.
Ruiz has a new film called “Reportero” which follows a veteran journalist and his colleagues at Zeta, an independent weekly newspaper in Tijuana, where practicing journalism can be a life-threatening profession.
The film is scheduled for a national broadcast on PBS stations on Monday, Jan. 7 on the POV series. “Reportero” also will stream on on the website http://www.pov.org from Jan. 8 to Feb. 6.
Ruiz, a dual U.S./Mexico citizen who lives in Brooklyn, previously directed and produced “American Experience : Roberto Clemente” (PBS, 2008) which won the ALMA award for Outstanding Made for Television Documentary.
He will be interviewed by Ricardo Sandoval Palos, chairman of SPJ’s international journalism committee.
