The SPJ San Diego Pro Chapter is pleased to announce the winners of the 2016 SPJ San Diego Area Journalism Awards Contest.

Here’s the list of first place, second place and honorable mention awards. You’ll have to wait until the banquet to find out who won what!

We’re also proud to honor the 2016 Journalist of the Year: Mario Koran, a reporter at Voice of San Diego.

We can’t wait to celebrate with you in our brand new location. Hand sanitizer and respiratory masks can be left at home this year.

Here are the details:

When: Thursday, July 21, 2016. Reception at 5:30 p.m., program starts at 7 p.m.
Where: The Kona Kai Resort & Spa, 1551 Shelter Island Dr, San Diego, CA 92106. Cocktail hour on the Point Loma Terrace, banquet in the Ballroom.
Cost: $55 per person, $440 for reserved tables of eight, $50 for students
